Day 1

The power is out, I only have one chance at this. I grab a bag and stuff it with things I need. Water, food, clothes, etc. My brother is upstairs in his room. He's playing cards with our best friend, Max. Max and my brother were both sixteen. I just had to be the younger one. I'm fifteen. I just have to be the girl in our group. I hear my brother complaining about how is Max cheating and I could hear Max's laughter. I grab my bag and head out the door.

I head out to the only place I know by heart. All the street lamps are out due to the power outage and most peoples' houses are dark too. Except the ones who have generators, which are only a few. Even in almost complete darkness, I find my footing. I know the path to where I'm going too well. I keep my pace as a fast walk. The weight of my bag isn't too heavy; so it doesn't slow me down.

I take a right turn onto Peter St. That's when I see him. It's Henry, a guy from my class. I can just make him out. He's throwing out the trash. I run and hide behind a tall hedge. Most of the students in my class live on this street. If I was seen, he's bound to ask where I was going and I can't afford to have that happen. I peek around the hedge. He is a friend of mine, but we're not that close. I take a step further to see more, but that's when I hear a loud SNAP! I look down and see a broken twig at my feet. I lift my head and see Henry looking my way. I can't really see his face, but i know he's looking this way. He takes a step, then another, and then another. He's walking this way. Crap. I jerk back behind the hedge. I can't let him see me. He will ask where I'm going and he'll tell my brother. I run out from behind the hedge and hear a gasp. I guess he didn't expect to see someone out with the power out. Especially, if they are running out from behind hedges.

I don't look back. I keep running towards every patch of darkness I see. I keep running until I hear the sound of crashing waves. I sigh. I finally made it, but I can't just drop my things and drop to the ground myself. I keep going. The crashing waves got louder and I know I'm getting closer. No one ever comes out here. There are stories saying that people had gotten washed away out here, and that they never come back.  As a kid I never believed them. I came out here every single day, just to explore. One day, I came across a cave. It was well hidden. It just looked like a huge rock, but if you walk around it, you'd see the opening to a cave. That's where I'm heading. I just want to get away from everything.

I reach the cave. I drop my bag and fall to the floor. I'm exhausted from running. I pull out the pillow from my bag and tighten my jacket around me. I'm glad I wore long pants; it gets cold out here. I get up and walk deeper into the cave. In case anyone comes looking for me here, if they find the cave, I doubt they would come this deep into it. I put my bag near the wall and rest my pillow against it. I fell into a not-so-deep sleep.

This is interesting. I saw some tense changes but those are easily fixed. I read the 2nd chapter first and was kinda lost so I came to find the 1st ^^
